MERCURIO DESIGN LAB S.r.l. (MDL) is an award-winning Italian design studio that creates avant- garde concepts inspired by the vibrancy of Asia. Since its inception, MDL has been a place for ideas and thoughts, with a high energy to generate architecturally meaningful works. The team is composed of passionate architects, engineers, designers and artists who integrate art with technology in their design process, while respecting the three fundamental criteria: the functional, the aesthetic and the social.
A spin-off of the AMA Group, one of the largest architectural consortia in continental Europe for more than 50 years now, MDL masterfully manages to express its design potential. With a root still firmly planted in Italy, we have become a global company with particular expertise in the Asian market. Through our company’s Italian spirit and rich cultural heritage, our studio creates new milestones and commits with great passion to bring ideas and solutions into the fields of Architecture, Interior Design, and Industrial Design.
Massimo Mercurio hails from Rome, where seeing soul-stirring art and magnificent architecture is a daily occurrence. For an architect's sone, who lived this routine for two decades, a visit to high-octane Asia prompted a vision of exporting the beautiful lines of contemporary Italian design beyond Italy. Armed with a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the highest-ranked university, the Sapienza University of Rome, he subsequently furthered his studies in architecture and internal construction management. The dual nature of his education and experience is unique, which has been beneficial in opening new frontiers in his design work. He has also won many international awards for his avant-garde projects.

From the ground, the transparency of the structure gives the impression of a spacecraft about to land or take off, hence commanding the attention of any onlooker from whatever angle it is viewed.
“A Cruise Ship Bungalo”
Named after the seasonal strong, north-westerly wind that blows across the Mediterranean. Villa Mistral embodies a sleek cruise ship that looks as if it's ready to sail into the wind.
