Born in Naples and moved to Rome at a young age, Dr. Alfonso Mercurio took his Masters in Architecture at Sapienza University. He began his professional activity concentrating on public housing and then took interest in sustainability, specialising in co-generation and alternative energy sources. With massive partnerships in the semiconductor industry, Dr. Mercurio grew the company into one of the largest architectural consortia in Europe and is considered one of the top industrial architects in the world. Besides being appointed as Corporate Worldwide Architect, he was also knighted by the President of the Italian Republic as Cavaliere della Republic and Commendatore della Repubblica.
Massimo pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome and subsequently furthered his studies in Architecture and International Construction Management. Counting Theoretical Physics, Architecture, Philosophy and Art among his interests, he recognised the vast potentials of Italian design beyond Italy. In 1996, Massimo with his father, Dr. Mercurio, opened A.M. Associates (subsidiary of AMA Group) to oversee projects in Asia. in 2008, he started Mercurio Design Lab, a spin-off of the AMA Group with a braver, more innovative spirit that caters to the real estate and lifestyle markets. The dual nature of his education and experience had led him to design projects that won many international awards globally.
Taking a design excellence scholarship at Southeast University, Kimberly completed her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and began her career in China. After this stint, she found her way to AMA Group in 2003 as a project designer. Always experimenting with creative solutions and challenging design boundaries, she is now a Design Director, overseeing all Mercurio Design Lab’s projects and managing design teams in various offices around the world. Under Kim’s watch, the studio has won multiple international awards in design and architecture.
Pedro Vizeu is from Coimbra, Portugal. He studied Masters Degree in Architecture Design at one of the universities on his native land. Pedro's vast experience on residential, office and hospitality projects gave him the edge to win two awards --- First Place, Limited Bidding for San Salvador Monastery Rehabilitation Grijo and First Place, Peep Show Design Competition Art City 2002. In 2012, he moved to Asia to work and in 2018, joined AMA group. He is currently the Project Manager for the Southeast Asia region with special focus on the company’s Vietnam projects.
Italian descent Sandro studied Engineering at University of Perugia and graduated with full marks. Subsequently, he graduated with high honors at Masters in Business Administration of MIB School of Management in Trieste. Sandro started his professional career in engineering in Italy but later moved to Asia in 2003 for marketing and business development in the construction industry. He joined AMA Group in 2016 and oversees business developments in the Far East region.
Loc Ha Nguyen was born in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and a master’s certificate in Economics. For more than 30 years, she has worked with various international organisations in which 20 years of it was spent in the construction industry. In 2017, she joined Mercurio Design Lab, a member of AMA Group, as a Business Development Representative in Vietnam, and in 2019 became the company’s General Manager in the region.
China-born Samaritan studied Environmental Art at the Guilin University of Technology and believed that computer technology would drive design in the future. Unsatisfied at a time with where big Chinese companies played it safe in utilising 3D, he saw an opportunity to make greater progress in design. Passionate about his stance, Sam was inevitably drawn by the Mercurio Design Lab’s avant-garde design concepts. He joined AMA Group in 2006 as a 3D Designer. Today, he is the Visual Design Manager, overseeing an entire team and maintaining the visual standard for all project renderings.
