Almost immediately after the start of DOJI Diamond Crown’s construction, it quickly became the talk of the town—owing to its unique design and innovative diagrid structure—for both Hai Phong’s citizens as well as Vietnamese officials.
With this sudden surge of goodwill, those same officials tasked DOJI Group with building a companion piece for Diamond Crown in the lot directly across it. Enter DOJI Golden Crown—the shining sequel and a testament to Mercurio Design Lab’s design excellence.
Given the success enjoyed by Diamond Crown, DOJI immediately reached out to MDL to craft a partner for Diamond Crown that matched its crown- and jewel-oriented theme and provided a more feminine companion to the original complex’s more masculine design.
However, Golden Crown would not utilise the diagrid system from its predecessor. Though revolutionary, the system was also expensive; as such, MDL was charged with developing an edifice that, although less costly, still maintained the visual splendour of Diamond Crown.
Thus, Golden Crown’s design eschewed the diagrid system for a more traditional style of structure, albeit still sticking to Diamond Crown’s design language that wowed Vietnamese onlookers and officials alike, resulting in a 40-storey structure that, when viewed from the top, is shaped like a Y, with three separate “wings” jutting out from its centre.
As a callback to its name—and echoing the diamond-patterned façade of Diamond Crown—each of Golden Crown’s “wings” is crowned by a glittering jewel with a diamond-shaped structure framing a large, twinkling LED. White columns framed by gold and inlaid with LED lights run from the bottom to the top of Golden Crown, culminating in what can be seen as smaller gemstones that line the roof of the tower, sparkling with smaller LED lights to accompany the three larger jewels.
These columns frame DOJI Golden Crown’s numerous apartments, which have balconies—loggia—that, instead of jutting out, sit flush within the tower’s outline, maintaining a sleek, uniform outline for the tower. These columns are interrupted near the middle floors of the tower, which open up to form one of the project’s most unique features: the Sky Park.
Golden Crown’s Sky Park encompasses an open-air jogging trail, multiple cafés, restaurants, and bars, as well as plenty of water features, such as a water spa and pool, all of which offer stellar views of the Hai Phong skyline.
The tower’s first three floors, on the other hand, house its commercial sections, including food and beverage stores, various shops, a fitness centre, and a childcare facility.
The front of the tower—the bottom “wing” of the Y in this case—is flanked by two drop-off areas for Golden Crown’s commercial and residential sections, which boast pearlescent façades punctuated by gold highlights, colourful LEDs, and sparkling, diamond-patterned ceilings, reinforcing the tower’s flashy, glittering aesthetic.
The rear of the tower—the space between the top two “wings” of the Y, in this case—is taken by a fitness centre and a grocery, with a rooftop section that contains an open-air lounge and mini golfing area.
Conversely, the upper floors of DOJI Golden Crown are almost exclusively occupied by numerous apartments, with the topmost floors housing Sky Villas—larger units with their own private rooftop spaces.
Although initially conceived as an accompaniment to its predecessor, Golden Crown’s unique features and stylings—not to mention a dash of MDL’s architectural prowess—have resulted in a structure that absolutely shines in its own way.
